Felon Road to gaming heaven....hopefully
29 March 2005, 16:03 by Felon

Well I decided I needed to get myself some decent gaming gear for a change.

Always played with a ball mouse and a magazine as my mouse mat and never seen the need to change, but now i have decided to actualy build myself a half decent gaming rig.

Out went the trusty ball mouse and its replacement was a Logitech MX510, wow what can I say, totally great mouse with 8 buttons and glides so easily. cant say the 35 quid it cost me (inc del) is value for money but if you want a decent system your going to have to pay for it.
Next I decided to get a mouse mat and after a lot of humming and harring I decided to go for the razer Exact thingy ma jig (25quid). Next, instead of using cheapo 1.99 argos headphones i spent a ludicrous 40 odd quid on some sennheiser headphones. all looking good so far.

atm im looking at Hard Disk drives and with all the help i have had on the forums im as confused as hell so ill leave that bit for another day.

Don't bother getting a crappy 6600GT. Go for a 6800GT.

Shane if you do get a 6800GT, make sure you get one that has rotating fans

Yer Shane, I'd steer clear of those cards. Even though they come with the SLI port on them, they are indeed the cards that i first recieved by mistake. And i couldn't get them to run SLI properly.

why are SLI / PCI cards like £100 quid cheaper than AGP?

They shouldn't be. If you're referring to the link that Felon gave, thats not a 6800GT so it can't be compared to the price of an AGP 6800GT.

just got a 6800 GT playing with the drivers at the moment, theres a big differance between them at the mo, so its a matter of trial and error, ive used omega drivers mostly before they are usually better then oem and they unlocked my ATI 9800aiw
to a pro nicely, but they gave me 1000 3d marks beind the standard drivers with my 6800 GT so working my way through the forceware and standard drivers slowly!.
