Foo Fighters, Hyde Park London!
Well for those of you who didnt know, and for those of you who have simply been waiting for this blog.

Just over a week ago [17th June] myself [maz] and ben [jammin] went to the biggest EVER Foo Fighters concert!

Well i set off with my mate Howard at about 3am, having only slept one hour! [You're stupid and crazy - Ben]
The M1 was clear all the way down and we arrived at ten past eight, in london.

Well the concert wasnt untill 4pm and the gates didnt open untill 2pm, so after a fairly extended visit to camden town and various other places, myself and howard decided to head into hyde park and sun it up and watch the chicks.

Jammin of course arrived at around 2 O'clock, and Howard and me walked past him and his ex-gf about five times before we caught sight of them. [ haha, that was funny, I saw you running past loads of times, was in stitches – ben )

After much waiting for Amanda (short lass short blonde hair + all black).
We waited in the queue, bag checks, stealing bottle caps (BASTARDS TOOK 6Bottle caps and my St. Georges flag off me >.<

We got in and proceeded directly to the beer tent and to meet with some dude Jammin and Scott knew. [He tried to get us gold circle tickets! What a legend - ben]

Bens Ex ****ed off at this point, and we chilled waiting for the bands to start.

Josie and the licks, was just shit and we sat down for the duration of her act.
Then came Angels and Airways, and not being much of a fan we sat down for most of the act. until The lead singer decided to start some stupid anti war singing (moaning about his brother, who's in the armybeing sent out to Iraq -he's a soldier its his ****ing job!), at which point we creativly started a corus with some lyrics along the lines of "War is my Adrenaline" rather than "war is our destruction" we accually had about 30 or 40 people singing with us =D [They were a bag of wank if u ask me – ben]

Well enough of that next up was Queens Of the Stone Age. Before i go into any detail I must say THEY WERE AWESOME! (although Dave Ghrol didn't play drums L ).

They started up with some of their more chilled songs from "songs for the deaf" and most people used the time to move around to better positions in the crowd (we moved to the front centre of General Admission which was where the mosh pit kept breaking out as we were to discover!).

After they had the crowd going for a while they broke out their better stuff like, Go With The Flow, and Little Sister. Then all hell broke loose around us!

needless to say we spent the remainder of Q.O.T.S.A. moshing it out. [QOTSA played a better set than foo's in my opinion – ben]

Well during the resbite between Q.O.T.S.A. and Motorhead, i was stuck on Howards shoulders, and it only took some daring young gubbins to start hurling bottles at me!!! (luckly NONE of them had piss in them), i begged howard to let me down but i was stuck blocking bottles for close too five minutes before he finally let me down >.< (the fact i got bombarded was noted on the Foo Fighters forums =D)

"We are motorhead, and we play rock and ****ing roll"

Bottles were still flying when motorhead took the stage and after the funniest band introduction ive ever heard they struck up some of their old skool rock and more frenzied moshing carried on for about an hour, and then the almighty ACE OF SPADES, began to blast out from the speakers and anyone who was unfortunate enough to be in the mosh area without meaning too was simple flattened or bounced out into the too and frows of the crowd.

Already exhausted from the effort of staying in the mosh pit we decided it was best to wait out for the foo fighters rather than move and loose our prime spot!

Finally the time arrived!!! yes the Foo Fighters Introduction video was played and once again all eyes were focused on the stage, where the band was making their way on.

They started as always with some mellow songs to chill the crowd and the sounds of voices blew away all but the loudest of words blasting out from the speakers. They must have turned the volume up because after the first song even with the whole crowd singing along i could hear them fine

But I'm ahead of myself again, They of course thanked the crowd etc. and dave ghrol made his little speech about how the concert came to be. and the show went on!!

After an hour of hard rocking and moshpitting, exhaustion was starting to take people and quite a few people bailed (crowd surfed to the walkway and got taken to one side by the officials).

Never the less even with exhaution taking hold of people left right and center, it couldent stop 85,000 people from having one hell of a night to remember, the atmospher when songs like Learn To Fly, and Times like these were being played [and sung by the whole crowd]

And as the night was drawing to a close, Brian May and Lemmie both came out to perform with the foo fighters. sufficed to say most of the crowd wouldent know who Brian may was if they'd been smacked round the face with a Queen album. [ I think you're wrong there mate. The drummer from queen came on as well, I noticed. Oh and it wasn't Lemmie and them at the same time…that's just ker-azy! – Ben]

Well Dave gehr did one last song, "hero" and too the dismay of the crowd that was the end, and i myself felt that the concert had been cut slightly short being that it was only 10:45, and we'd yet to hear some of the all time best foo's songs performed.

Well all in all it was an AWESOME concert, and im sure ben will agree that its one of the best concerts he's ever been too.

Ben: Twas a good concert, I was a bit annoyed they didn't play a few more album songs, but what can you do…gotta keep the crowd happy. Motorhead played too long and it meant that foo's had a shorter set. Still im not complaining! QOTSA Highlight of the evening for me J

[ben caught the tube and transfered to the train to his home] – its good living near London J

[me and howard ran to the green hill tube station (2miles) then caught the tube to kings cross, transfered, transfered again, and made our way back to the car in highgate, drove to the m25, and then down to gatwick, we were both falling asleep on the motorway and we made it safely to howards dad's and drove home on sunday afternoon]
