Battlefield 2142 Preview  by James B at 13:08

GameSpot has a new Battlefield 2142 preview up that discusses some of the vehicles.

That's not the only thing you have to worry about, either. Grunts can temporarily knock out a walker with an electromagnetic pulse grenade, or else use active camouflage (a personal cloaking device) to run beneath it and plant explosives in its knee joints or toss grenades and explosives into an exposed vent. This should give infantry a good chance against a lone walker, which is why effective tactics will require vehicles and infantry to support one another, just like they do in real life. And as you can see, the rock-paper-scissors balancing is something the designers are working to maintain, especially after the experiences with Battlefield 2, where some of the vehicles sometimes were a bit too powerful.

Worth a read!

We'll know if it sucks or not by whether or not EA bring out a demo, there was no demo of Vietnam. Enough said.

So they add the infantry AA with fixed aim like in bf1942 to this and not bf2 where everyone was asking for it ? It just sounds like they have taken all the complaints from bf2 and stuck them in a new game to make more money instead of fixing BF2 to it's full potential. Add that to the fact that all these vehicles and playstyle are in Planetside (which is now free btw) and I think i'll give this one a miss.

I think Midnight said it best. I'll still try the demo if they release it and wait to pass judgement on said game. I'm bummed that they're kind of "forgetting" BF2 and moving on. BF2 DOES have great potential but I actuallyl think EA listens to the community TOO much.

I don't know about this game some times I blow hot others cold , I will see what the community say about the game . There are times when you can find yourself wasting a lot of time working out what you want to do next in these game & focused assault ala CS or ET or hopefully QW: ET can be more rewarding due to the fact you fell a sense of achievement . Maybe TITAN mode will galvanize the teams

Im in no dout that I'll get this game, hopfully they will do a demo before i waist my cash, but BF2 was/is such a good game I'll have to give it a go. I'm more looking forward to QW and crysis in the FPS games.

I'm a huge fan of BF2, I play it all the time + own all the booster packs + expansion, but I am kind of upset that they're coming out with a new game without finishing BF2 to it's whole potential.. I may or may not purchase the game, I might wait a few months before getting it or something. Well, they're in it to make money, and they don't get more money by patching BF2, they get it by releasing new games

im buying this the second it comes out, bf2 is my favourite game of all time, i love it, and this in my opinion can't get worse if they stick to the same frame of gameplay which they should...they better *shakes fist in ea's direction*
