Battlefield 2 Community Update  by Craig D at 19:20

PC
Battlefield 2 Logo There's a new Battlefield 2 community update online with a bit of news about the upcoming 1.3 Patch. Co-op gameplay is one new addition which will no doubt be a big plus for some, while the second new feature mentioned is a bit of a strange one. Air dropped vehicles, I don't quite know what to say but I suspect the community reaction will be mixed at best.

Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

I like the patch for the most part but I don't agree with these gameplay changes. Why do they keep changing the game every other month? Why not just fix the frickin' problems and improve the performance? The air-drop vehicles is gonna be wierd. So now we can drop a hummvee on top of a building in Karkand and mow down troops/vehicles as they roam about? I don't get this addition AT ALL and I don't remember reading a lot of requests for this to be added. I really hope the bug fixes ACTUALLY fix bugs this time.

Yes, Re0sLess, you missed something. The patch is talking about co-op in single player/local LAN mode.

I dont see a problem with vehicle drops, I presume there will be areas on maps that you will not be able to drop a vehicle ie roofs ect.

area's of the map isn't my problem it's the fact that someone can just go "Hey, a tank weeee" etc and then own you in the face with it - but we'll have to see how it plays out. It might work.

It just sounds wierd, it seems to overstep the realism/arcade fun line that BF2 manages to balance pretty well.

Before this thread gets out of hand we need to clarify 2 things:

1. There is NO mention of improved AA only improved locking missles from the jet bombers.
2. You can NOT drop tanks/apcs only humvees/vodniks/buggies.

End rumor control.

IF you see a C130 fly over and jeep fall out that back on three big parachutes, it would look cool, but it wil no doubt just fall out the sky like crates do.

What no Cobra drop? , it would be even beter if a black truck drove up and a car came out the back.

I'm suprised they dont add parute drops in too, the cmdr adds point and for x seconds you can skydive in.

Seeing a C130 flying around dropping vehicles would be pretty cool. But like Re0sLess said it'll just "op" out of the sky with a chute on it.

This is a very big gameplay change and it'll be interesting to see how everyone adjusts.

Doubt it will have much effect in public play really, probably won't be used particularly effectively. However could have a huge impact on clan games, less squads running to points more driving, I think it will mean more flag swapping and less focused battle fronts. I dunno, we'll just have to see.

Agreed, in public it will be just one more thing for midnight to crash into.

Joking aside, I bet this is a addition for Armored Fury so you dont have to walk 6 miles to a tank when you get your taken out, just call in a Buggy and drive to the tank shop.

I dont like the fact that companies now see it as ok to charge a small fee for a piece of shit. aka Booster packs + Extra's in oblivion that should be in it anyway or cheaper. Ok its fine to make profit on these things, but if ur going to make them wank you should price them accordingly.
