Goodbye virgin media is what I say when my contract runs out, or I could just cancel it, de-register my bank card and just tell them to **** off when they try contacting me asking for there bollocks leaving fee. That along with peoples net trottling at peak hours so much and they even get 120+ping on british servers with most games with play.

they cap us all the time, we get sub-56k connection, then when we ring up they deny it and say it must be our router. i keep telling my flat mate to go adsl, but he like the whole "20mb" thing, even tho we can never get that.

They do the same thing to us, I get pings of like 250-300 on english servers sometimes, plus its taken 2 minutes to load facebook before! (Which is cached as well!)

Virgin internet is super gash

Websites can be utter shite at loading, but using a different DNS service can fix some of that. As for capping I think you might find it actually is a problem your end or with the server you are trying to connect with, as I frequently use newsgroups and get my "20mb" connection full speed at 2.4mb/s every time, not once has it downloaded slower than the maximum speed it can and I'm pretty sure the 20mb service doesn't suffer the cap limitation other packages do.

The only other thing that could effect it would be your area, with the way cable works if you have a lot of heavy users that live near you that can effect your connections quality if the line is getting bottlenecked.

I think this is the main problem, the majority of people don't have issues, but when you do its show stopping. so there tech support think were all idiots when we ring up (granted working on tech support lines, I know the feeling , and have asked my fair share of dumb questions).

Perhaps a slight over reaction by some portions of the press.

Its obviously down to where you live, I was on Virgin and had great speed and ping, now im on BT its like being on 56k again sometime. They are awful, you know when the slow down is coming as its at peak times ie tea time and early evening.

House move next month for me and il be switching my provider to Sky for the 3 in 1 deal at 20 quid, stuff ya caps ect, I rarely leach nowadays so not needed.

What pisses me off is that people with problems (me) and people without problems (almost everyone else on here) pays the exact same. Virgin should get off their lazy asses and before demanding money off companies or whatever they should sort out their lives, charge slightly more for their service & fix the areas which have high usage. Its not my fault (I barely download, all I do is online game!) However I get stung because of where I live. Its an unfair system which Ofcom needs to fix.

Plus this asking for money off companies is a loads of BS. Charge the high users more, charge the light users less. Thats what make sense. They charge too little to attract more customers and now they are feeling the sting.

/rant over.

Charging excessive users seems the fairest way to me.

Will also stop a lot of piracy as the pirates will get charged a fortune for downloading/sharing constantly.
