Off to see it tonight with the misses, just hope the pizza before the movie is not the best bit of the night, by all accounts people that have allready seen it reckon its wank.

FX - top notch and worth the entrance fee alone, thought the story line was ok but strayed from the original far too much.

lol if shane liked it chances are its one of the worst films of the year

6/10? Christ Shane thats harsh. I loved it, thought it was very well done. Kept me on the edge of my seat without being too long/too silly/ etc
I would g ive it a 9/10 shows that Tom Cruise can act, and that Steven Speilberg still has it.
I was very impressed!

Because Ben if you had read the book or seen the original it was nothing like War of the Worlds, 3 decent special effects, typical nonsense included (son made it home) how tf I have no idea, and a totally abrubt ending,

6/10 at a push and a film I wouldnt watch again.

ps Cruise played his part well though.

ive read the book and i still thought the film was brilliant

the thing ive come to realise is that u should never judge the movie by the book

u only have to look at the bourne series to see how much they **** a book up but that doesnt mean the movie isnt good imo

i defo didnt like the fact that the son made it home though

id give it a 9/10 myself too and will defo watch it again

cruise was brilliant i agree

u wont get the full feel of the film unless u see it in the cinema tbh, got alittle intense when the first "tripod" came out of the ground none stop noise for 10-15minutes lol.

when i walked in i seen two 70ish year old women in the back row, wonder if they had to walk out

And I pressume I was asking way too much in hoping they re-did the original movie soundtrack for this one? That soundtrack so sold the original in every way.
Haven't seen it yet. Might go watch that. Or Batman Begins. Or Episode 3... Man, i reeeeally need to go catch up on some movies.

Ok, well that blows. Is pretty much the soul of the WotW gone imo. What an opportunity (how the feck is that spelt?), to redo the original soundtrack!!

Its a difficult film to call tbh.

Where as I was disappointed with it a lot of other people I know thought it was great.

Put it this way, audion and fx are worth the entrance fee alone.

I personally think that War of The Worlds was the most amazing film that I have seen since something like xXx 2 - The Next Level.
Although.. Tom Cruise wasn't the best pick of the bunch to play that role, but Dakota Fanning made up for that. Extremely talented little actress I think you will all agree.

xXx 2 was utter ***** when I saw it.. the only good bit was the very start when they had those mines that dug holes in the ground.. then it was like some badly made tv show.

War of the Worlds for the most part was ok.. the ending was shockingly bad, one minute they're shooting the aliens, next it's over and that kid should no way have survived after running over the hill into all that fire.

Other than that, it was alright.. There are far better films

I thought the movie was really good, although whilst he is in the basement with that guy, there seems to be a long period before anything "good" happens, which was annoying.
