¬_¬ your joking right? if not youve never seen an iPod? to do that I'd have o send it back to apple care, as its a sealed case that gets power from the usb and its been sat on the side for 2h now in the same state, so it does not want to go into sleep mode.

Because its a poorly designed fashion accessory not a well designed functional MP3 player.

nothing wrong with ipods they are solid - and by far one of the best Mp3 players about - they set the standards - which all have followed.. quotes like that are sure to get me a right flaming but i love my iPod - although i hardly ever us it now

They lack the functionality of a lot of mp3 players out there, for example you can buy much smaller players that have radio and recording ability for less money. Of course you can gain some functionality for the iPod by buying addons, but not only do they add to the price tag they add to the size. In my opinion a lot of people don't buy them because theyre the best mp3 player in terms of value for money or functionality or size(theyre obviously not), but because its considered "cool" to have one.
Also I don't see the point in having however many gigs of music if you can only listen to 8 hours at a time. If you have to charge it every 8hours you may aswell change the music. On my old mp3 player I just copied and pasted the folders across instead of using a time consuming program like itunes, it had a 10hour battery life so I could listen to 10hours worth of music uninterupted. :/ Obviously if you go on holiday or travel a lot 512-1gig isn't enough, but id say 3-4gigs is ample, anything more is a waste of money imo.
[edit] Oh and all that battery life stuff in the US is a joke (Apple sued by customers), the fact you have to pay to send them back to Apple to replace a battery every few years is a complete joke and all that stuff with the nano's messing up was a joke. Apple are a ****ing joke! And anyone who buys an ipod is a mug IMO, pay through the nose for a very ordinary mp3 player that looks the part. ¬_¬

I was going to post about sound quality being a reason people buy the i pod, but tbh if you are buying a mp3 you blatently dont care about sound quality that much or you wouldnt be using mp3's As chris said its all about the fact that the i pod is "cool"

That makes me extra cool coz i have a Black one . as for functions, i dont want to record, i have a degital dictaphone for thet, the radio is trash, so i dont whant to do that. all i want is to have ALL my music ALL the time, I dont know where you get the 8h bat life from, maybe im lucky but i've never runn out and i charge mine once a week the reason i have ALL my music is i have such a varied taste, so i may want metal in the moring and hiphop on the way home, you never know! EDIT: and yes it is a style icon , but idont care, we all use things beacuse they look good, even tho there are beter things out there *chough*firefox*chough*opera*chough*

Maybe i am different to most, but i will always go for performance over looks. It could be the ugliest cd player in the Uk but as long as it sounds like the best cd player in the UK i will buy it [well assuming i have the cash ] Maybe thats why i think people who buy a lcd cos they look better off than on should be shot. Although it is nice to have both performance and looks

"A2: Apple's specifications specify a battery life of 10 hours for the 1st and 2nd generation iPod, 8 hours for the 3rd generation iPod and 1st generation iPod mini." Depends on the model. Also because it uses a lithium Ion battery the more you use it the less charge it will hold, my friend who uses his a lot has to charge after about 6hours of use, pretty shite. I always go for functionality(performance) and value for money when buying anything, iPod is crap for both of those.

Dont be silly, not having a go really, if you want an ipod and like it thats your choice and your opinion, to be fair almost everyone i know who has an ipod loves it so maybe im missing out. I was just expressing my opinions on it, I don't see any stupid replies, I see several well constructed well written posts expressing opinions on something the topic was related to.
