HL2 and Source Update Plans  by Scott H at 08:10

PC
Voodoo Extreme have posted the following news regarding upcoming updates to HL2 and Source Engine.

Over the next month or so there will be a couple of interesting releases via Steam, in addition to the upcoming Counter-Strike map cs_compound. First, we'll be releasing an update to Half-Life 2: Deathmatch that will include the Slam, Stunstick, and the Crowbar. We're not ready to release the contest winning maps just yet, but we will be releasing a new map we've built at Valve to tide people over while we sort out the contest winners. There will also be a release to Counter-Strike: Source around the same time that will address a few minor issues.

One feature that we'll be adding to the Source engine in the coming months is high dynamic range lighting. To showcase this we've taken a part of the Highway 17 chapter of Half-Life 2 and worked it into a single level that incorporates HDR along with some new gameplay. We're calling this short level "The Lost Coast," and it will be made available free of charge to Half-Life 2 customers that meet a specific set of high end hardware requirements. We'll be publishing those requirements soon.

ooh 'Dynamic Range Lighting' it will please people like Stan that more bells and whistles are being added, while improvements to the more gameplay critical elements seem to have been forgotten.

I think Valve would know what to alter Ryan, a game that is meant to be fun and enjoyed by hundreds of thousands worldwide.
And not the pro gamer out there that probably contributes about 2 percent of Valve's profits.

Yes you are right shane, silly me. Why make a game that is about skill and actually has good reg. when they can make a game that any no skill cock can run and spray and frag. The fact that we made valve who they are doesnt seem to count. Valve before half life and cs was a poor company making games like lesuire suit larry. Then cs come out and was quickly picked up and become the biggest game online [that made valve]. So what do they do to make it hit a even bigger audience, they shaft it so that it takes no skill what so ever to be good at it, so that all the noobies that use to get owned silly by the likes of me and wh00pass can now suddenly run and spray and think they are good. Lets hope the real companies that know what they are doing realise valve dont have a clue and dont copy them/

Maybe the fact Valve made the game so noobie is the one single reason CS was so succesful ?

Not really m8, cs was a very big game before they made it for noobs. Ok it wasnt as big as it is now because most noobs gave up after they got owned silly cos they realised they never had the skill. But i think if u ask 99 percent of gamers if they want the biggest game in the world or a good game with good reg and no cheats etc, they would all say the good game.
