Playstation 2 gets a price cut  by James B at 19:06

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced that the price of the Playstation 2 is being reduced to €129.99 (£94.99). 8MB memory cards will also fall to €19.99.

Can't believe people are still buying these though!

I guess if you never had one you could pick up one cheap with lots of cheap games, but quite why anyone would want such a dated console now though is beyond me.

i was thinkin of buyin one recently even of only for guitar hero - Ive had one before but it did that stupid thing that dvd players always seem to do - Where they just seem to randomly stop workin with some discs and then work fine with another

Some matey in gamestation said some games will work with the slimline PS2 and not the normal one, and vise-versa.

Irritatingly, second hand PS2s cost about as much as brand new ones! Which means it still isn't that cheap to buy one and get loads of games. At least, that's been my recent experience - haven't done tooo much shopping around.

get 'em off Ebay for about £30, go to GAME.. trade them in for £50

I really woulnd't recommend getting them second hand. Their DVD drives are really dodgy and give up after a while. Just like shag said... I went through about 6 PS2's at work...

yeah they suck :/ Xbox does the same - I remeber El3h buying one in a shop so my bro could box up his old one and return it as the new one not working with all games

that's no price cut.. it's already $99.99 here in canada, and has been for awhile so far..
