Dead Rising Font Problem  by James B at 15:42

XBox
Dead Rising Many players of Dead Rising (out in the USA already) are experiencing problems with font size on standard definition TV's. Reports range from unreadable, to tiny and blurry. 1up.com are reporting that Capcom have confirmed the problem, but will not be issuing a patch at the moment.

"Unfortunately Dead Rising was optimized for High Definition TV's. Due to this, the font in the game might be difficult to read on standard definition TV's," the company said in a brief statement.

The article goes on to describe some official Capcom-advised solutions to the issue, which mostly involve fiddling with your TV settings or playing in widescreen. Dead Rising should hit UK shops next month.

Surprisingly shoddy from Capcom?

Yeah, I found this on my widescreen TV. Luckily I'll be playing the full game on a TFT

I don't mind them focusing on HD but it is a little harsh I guess.

indeed, one of the good points of consoles is the fa anyone can buy the unit and play any game without having to worry about other hardware. Shear lazyness by Capcom, m$ should be pressuring them to develop a patch so all 360 users can enjoy the game equally.

Not sure games can be patched as easy as that though can they? Seeing as the game never copies files to the HD (apart from save games) at any point.

Well they must be able to as i've downloaded a couple of patches for games, so it must just execute it while it loads.

Executing things like that will effect memory though wouldn't it? Ah well, I have no idea how they'd do it (unless they've set the game up for that sorta thing to be changed in the future)...

Well it would be pretty short sighted of them to make a game for a console that can handle patchs but not write the game to support the patches, i was reading a interview and they said its a piece of piss to patch 360 games as long as they write the game to allow patches in the first place.

I sure hope so

I know my bro will be playing it on a normal TV. I'd hate for him to keep nagging me to play it on my TFT...
