Saw this article about gaming addictions on Shacknews and it bought a wry smile to my face, an officially licensed clinic for Internet addiction has opened its doors in China and apparently most of its patients are suffering from addiction to MMOs.

Most of the patients are youths between the ages of 14 and 24. Their obsessive habit would cause them to quit school, lose an abnormal amount of weight, and keep them awake and playing for over 12 hours a day.

I do get hooked on games from time to time and have played a certain game for many hours out of sheer enjoyment, I would hardly call it an addiction though.

Or parents go to internet cafe's to play WOW leaving their baby on its own for 5 hours, and letting it die.

Not really Mani, I can walk away at any time. When I say hooked I mean totally immersed while playing.

lol, more than 12 hours a day is a lot?!! wtf whats wrong wit not goin to school and stayin awake ;/ i would normally say only in america but china gone the whole way on this one

My friends brother should go to that today.
Went round his house, and his brother was in the kitchen looking groggy, I asked what the matter was and he said he had just woken up. Oh yeah and it was 7pm. I asked him what he had been doing to wake up so late, of course he had been playing WoW. Funny thought. He actually blocks himself from sunlight and in the palest person i have seen.
