According to this post of gamespot, Francis Ford Coppola is apparently not happy with either Paramount for selling the rights to make his classic movie series into a video game or EA for it's implementation.

They use the characters everyone knows, and then for the next hour they shoot and kill each other. I had absolutely nothing to do with the game, and I disapprove
