Firefox is more secure and has lots more functions that you can add by using the 'extensions' that you can download from their website.
Plus tabbed browsing is more useful then what IE can currently offer.

The you sir are playing Russian roulette while browsing.
Firefox and Opera own IE6 is EVERY sense, any fool stupid enough to carry on using IE6 in this day and age deserves everything they get.
However, IE7 is a huge improvement, so let's see how that pans out before making rash judgements.

Why does eveyone say Firefox is more secure? whats it based on? as no one ever says, they just make random blanket statments like "Firefox is more secure ". every two months or so they release a patch for it with security updates, so it cant be that good can it?

Err, Firefox doesn't allow total control over your operating system through a flawed, buggy and frankly shite activeX system.
You really should do some research, if you want to be a web developer this is required knowledge.

You only have to follow tech news to see more serious flaws are found in IE (the key word being serious, its not the quantity). MS also has a habit of letting some of these exploits continue for months before getting round to patching. You are more of a target using IE as well, given FF's growth I wonder if that will change. IE just wasnt designed securely enough and most people have realised that by now, its a very old browser given how fast things have moved with web page content. IE7 should resolve many of these tbh, it will then probably come down to features and personal preferance. I have IE7 on my work PC and I find the positions of the buttons a little annoying and FF extensions are great so thats probably enough to keep me with FF for now. To an extent you can turn things off like ActiveX support and be careful where you click and have no problems with IE. I'd rather not run the risk since there is such a good alternative. If you like pretty graphs to make it more clear I just google and found this site.

lol personally i prefer the Mozilla Suite rather than the FireFox browser... but thats because mozilla has, two included features i like 1: Tabbed WYSIWYG webeditor 2: Tabbed Thunderbird Email [i.e. can be used as a tab rather than a seperate window]
the mozilla suite is exactly the same to firefox in almost everything else.. although some of the interfaces look diffrent and dont have firefox's nicer graphics
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.
Issue the orders Sir, and I will storm Hell. |

I prefer Firefox but that's just a matter of taste I guess. They both have their pros and cons.

lol, using this logic - i could make a silly remark like "back in the day msdos used to be king". Obiviously, the past shouldnt be forgotten but as technology changes, factors like this should be taken into account.

Which is a fine reason why not to use the ancient IE6.

Firefox is good but sometimes don't show some web pages as they have been produced. Like chucks tables and frames out of place or just decides not to show something. I think it does it for a laugh.... ye.
