In the next two days im going to order a new phone with one or the other PS3/Wii....... Which would you go for??

Whereas the wii comes with wii sports the Ps3 comes with nothing but has excellent resale value - it does of course have a blue ray player tho.. But depending when my new house mate puts his 52" HD tv when he moves in is a factor as my 42" plasma isnt Hd anyway.

oh I wont be rushing out to buy any Ps3 games thats for sure - and not to sure on the Wii collection although I do already have Zelda from when i borrowed my mates wii all those months

You can still sell wii's for a nice profit too although I'd keep it for mario galaxy at least.

The wii has two great games, mario galaxy which is the best platform game in the past decade and the new zelda. It is the best for party games when mates are over. However that said the graphics really are poor on almost all the games.

The ps3 is expensive, but is a "decent" bluray player and has some awesome games like Drakes fortune, although saying that there is still only half a dozen games on the console that I would buy atm. Although it does a decent job of streaming video from your pc.

I would go for the ps3, just because its worth more, you can always pick up the wii later on for allot less cash.

Not to mention you can download demos on the ps3 to see which games you want, which sadly you cannot do on the wii.

Id get the wii.
You cannot afford the ps3 day-to-day. The wii has lots of great games that are very cheap in the shops and also a wii is dead easy to crack and get homebrew to run on it.
you whole family and friends will love the wii.

No doubting the ps3 is better. but it also UBER expensive to run with gam,es and movies at 50 QUID each time. and they are few and far between.

Could you not get the ps3 and flog it on ebay then get something more useful to your life.

No it isn't, what utter bull crap. Consoles are about being easy to just pick up. Relax on the coach with a game etc, they are also better for certain genres of games (sports, action/adventure for example). I own a gaming pc, wii, 260 AND a ps3 and they all get used.

As for being too expensive, ps3 games are 30-40 quid (not 50, thats absurd) which is the same price range as the wii (for the good games). The Wii has a marginal amount of more at the 30 quid range than the ps3 but niether has a vast array of games worth owning. The old games worth having on both systems are around the 30 quid mark, newer games on the wii being from 35-40 and the ps3 ones being 40. Don't quote me no Disney Princess: Enchanted journey 25 quid etc either, we are talking games actually worth having

A lot of the "family and friends" stuff is pure gimmick as well. Sure the gathering of friends and family for a wii session is great but seriously how often does that happen? and playing them on your own gets old fast (Wii sports the prime example).

Seems dumb to me to choose a free gift worth nearly half of the other option. And SENT where do you get some of your absolute shite from sometimes mate?

The most I have spent on a ps3 game is 35 quid and that was for ratchet and clank, most of the games I have paid £30 or under, thats about the same as the wii.

Movies 50 quid each, where the **** have you been shopping, as they seen your ass coming, most bluray disks are about the same price as dvds at about £17 each and sometimes less if you look around.

I really don't know where you got the ps3 costing too much day to day crap from....

The wise money is on the PS3 for all the reasons people have detailed in the above posts , even if you look at the device as purely a media hub it is excellent value for money , I stream all my audio & video including DIVX content to my living room & it rocks . As you said playing a demo before splashing out for a game is a must even if the cost of the title is only £30- £35 .

Sony are bringing our the Platinum range of games soon ( like the end of March ) & that will get you top most for the Sony launch titles for about £17. Reuters recon the console is going to storm it .

As for the console being 3rd in a three horse race well when you consider that the 1st year PS3 lineup of games, with launch titles like Motorstorm and Resistance, and followups like Oblivion, Ratchet and clank, Uncharted Drakes fortune & War-Hawk you cant knock the sucker for lack of decent title's .

Oh & it up-scales DVD's brilliantly , they look fabulous on a HD screen , so good that I retired my Denon 1930 DVD player because the PS3 out shone it in every way.

the PS3 is a very good console but it is expensive. Like a ferrari cost more than a fiesta.

I stand by every letter of my posts. its a false economy to get the ps3 free with a mobile as shag doent have the money to keep it. If he did have it still would be better to spend that money elsewhere.

AND IS STILL IS A FACT THAT ALL PS3 games are £49.99 what they might be doing or spmetimes they knocl m,oney off as they dont sell is you trying to convonce yourself that they are not £50 same as the RRp of a 360 game. why do you have issues with that?

I was trying to sugar coate it a little so it didnt seem like i was being out of order but you wanna tell me to stfu fine. You said games are 50 quid. RRP means **** all now a days not one non peripheral based game is over 40 quid on play.com, not a single one. You branded films in the 50 pound band range as well but i assumed that wasnt what you ment but saying the games COST 50 quid is shite, and while im sure shag has the brains to find out for himself i didn't see the harm in correcting you.

As for fanboys I think you'll find I'm quite the opposite ( i own 20 games on the 360 compared to 5 on the ps3), until very recently i actually favoured my 360, the thing that swayed it for me was the build quality of the ps3 as my 360 got noteably weary. And whats this malarchy about an unqualified opinion? apart from owning all the consoles and using them all what else do i need other than experience to have a "qualified" opinion on them? a ****ing degree in playing consoles?

Go for the PS3 kev,while the Wii comes with wii sports and is damn fun, the ps3 is a better option in my opinion and more practical,just for the blu-ray player its worth it alone (and i dont own a ps3, just a wii and my Pc)

And ye those 260's are pretty special bits of equipment tbh!

If anything I am anti sony they are over priced over hyped shite for fanboys and people who don't know what they are doing.

However on this one point I agree with the rest, shag is getting the item for FREE. That way the ps3 is the best value, as even if he wants a wii it is far cheaper to get the free ps3 and then either keep it or sell it then buy a wii later for less.

As for all games costing £50, YOU really should do some research before you come on spouting shite like some all knowing god, first off I have NEVER seen a single ps3 or 360 game costing £50, NEVER. Go look on all the games websites and try and find a game for £50 other than guitar hero which comes with a piece of hardware.

The wii is a great console I own one, hell I actually own all three consoles so I would say I have a pretty unbiased opinion. The problem with the wii is the low graphics and the fact that it has two classics games on it, the rest are pure party games or for the less hardcore gamer.

I would recommend a 360 as it has more good games on it than the ps3, however I would be wary of the piss poor build quality, the fact that it is HIGHLY likely to break and the fact that it sounds like you have a jet engine in your living room.

Shag mate if I were you [and lets be honest we all know you wish you was me], I would get the ps3 because even if you don't want it, you could sell it and buy a wii and then have some left over cash for mario galaxy and zelda.

I have seen PS3 games for 50 quid but you can allways get them cheaper if you look around, as for the Wii...well my 5 year old daughter uses it the most so that says it all. Get the PS3 just for the fact it has the Blu-Ray Kev. 360 is irrelevant as its not in the phones offer? As Ryan said you could allways flog it on.
