Ok, I enjoyed the pro gaming thread discussion last week, it really made me giggle quite a lot, as well as beign interesting. let's continue.

I still maintain that CS and it's ilk will not become mainstream and anyone watsing their teenage years trying to be a pro CS player is in fact a complete numpty, but still..

If we consider that many years in the future, a game or two may break into the mainstream and become a fully fledged spectator sport with real full time professional lagues all over the world, Let's speculate what that game might be like..................................

My own personal favourite furturistic violent sport, RollerBall !! ??

Could the movie and then the similar Bitmap brothers game be further developed in the future?? I think yes, it was extremely violent and high speed aswell as being great fun to play. imho, much more likely than a confined and repetetive FPS.

What if in the future you were linked to the pc by a heart monitor and if you died in the FPS you died in real life through some sort of shock.. that would be more interesting

Rah! someone got the point of all my comments!

I can imagine gaming alternatives to controversial/violent sports we have today. Virtual fox hunting, virtual horse racing, perhaps even virtual boxing. Obviously input/output devices would have to improve and change radically for proper sports men to get involved. But a possibility me thinks.

It would only work more or less in 1v1 situations I reckon, one thing that could be interesting is a winner stays on type thing, but every time they win they start with a 10% handicap.

This conversation has no bounderies tbh, gaming could end up like star trek's holo-deck.

I always thought it would be cool when one day, no doubt this will happen. When you log on to play Battlefield 43 or whatever, you'll be hooked into loads of gubbins and you actually have to run around and you get tired because your actually doing it and stuff and it would be just marvellous... Probably not the way of pro gaming, but hey, it should happen. Would be alot more involving

They had that with Americas Army. There was a gameshow late at nights using AA and people were in virtual reality headsets and had to run on this moving floor thing to get around. It looked like a great fun way to play the game

i think its way ahead of its time but int hte future there will be virtual gameing and real life gaming

but sadly i thikn it will be things like american football not CS its 7 years old LOL.

once graphics are just as real as real there will be sports on TV and that means the people doing it will get paid and be pro

there already are a few i know of about 20 people who earn a living playing games, in korea its massive and that region but we only hear of the US ones here but that cos they own all our media companies
