Watched this the other day & thought it was a great film, full of action & a refreshing change. I bought Pitch Black before it was released in Region 2 & rated the film as one of my fave SciFi action thrillers (great cinematography) . Was pleased the 2nd film maintained some of the musical score. The only thing which I had to turn a blind eye to was the softening of our psycho anti-hero. but this was easy as the whole film oozed atmosphere & great acting by the support actors. Any one elses see the movie & what did you think ?

oh dear oh dear oh dear, i thought this film was really really bad, it lost all of the originality of pitch black and was just another hollywood big budget blockbuster that has no heart or soul. I really liked pitch black and because it had no budget they really had to think about things and make it semi original where as chronicles was just lots of sfx with 2d characters and poor action. Having said that i happen to think the game escape from butcher bay is lots of fun and was one of the better games of last year [ ?].
Pitch black at least had a semi original idea and was just a breath of fresh air from all the crappy big budget cgi sci fi films that were going about and i liked the anti hero as well but i am afraid everything pitch black had going for it chronicles changed and ruined even the main character isnt really the same as in pitch black not to mention the large amounts of cheese.
Chronicles was badly acted as well and badly wrote and badly directed and why suddenly change the actor who pld the girl in the first film bar the fact they wanted a hottie, no i do have to say this film bored my tits off and thus it wasnt even a fun 2 hours like id4.

Mmm my angle on Chronicles was that it had been polished to capture the main stream much like Alien 2 which was more action than thriller, great film if you look at it purely as gun ho action movie. I kind of took a high level view marvelling at the design art , special effects & uniform yet guttural Necromongers .

nah u cant even compare it to aliens, aliens was directed by one of the true greats and had rich and believeable characters with real tension and fantastic atmosphere, aliens was a different style film to alien but i wouldnt say more mainstream.
I just thought chronicles lost everything that made pitch black good, cg and action doesnt make a film good you have to care about the characters and buy into the world and i am afraid none of these is true for me with chronicles. The only thing really linking pitch black and chornicles is the main character and tbh he is vastly different in both films. Each to there own and i aint saying you cant enjoy it, just that you would have to pay me to watch it again as i really do think it failed in almost everything it tried to do, it tried to be epic but just fell flat on its face.
It is a bit like alien resurection, no need at all to be made other than to cash in on the franchise and maybe keep some actors careas alive. As no brainer blockbusters go there are far far better ones, so that really leaves me wondering what the point of the film is bar to make lots of cash.
