Ok so i've been saving up for a new 32"+ LCD TV to use with my PC/PS3.

Sofar, the only one I've found that I like the look of is:
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=26612&category_id=931&manufacturer_id=0&tid=lc32d65e

I'm looking for something that does 1080I/780P At least, and it must be able to cope with deep blacks etc, with little or no blur.

Unfortunately, i know almost fu*k all about TV's/Monitors so any advice.

Budget is around the £400 mark but i'm waiting for the January sales to see if any of the bigger 42" plasma's come close enough...

Just seen this --- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-32XV555DB-Widescreen-1080p-Freeview/dp/B0013HKTF0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229714316&sr=1-3
which has 1:1 Pixle ratio's on it...

Either way i'd have to get a DVI>HDMI cable like >> http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/cable/hdmi-to-dvi-dvi-to-hdmi-cables/

or just buy one with DVI in the back like my plasma I have my server hooked up to my plasma so I can check on it properly occasionaly and it looks fine. No doubt you'll want headphones on your pc if you hook it up to the TV anyway.

Ok try looking at the following models mate.

First off ignore all the bullshit about 1080p etc it means jackshit in terms of performance, atm the best picture on a screen under 50 inch is on 720p screen and has been the same for years.

As you are going to use it on your computer as a desktop, I recommend a lcd as plasma is just too prone to screen burn when running applications like that. Not to mention that you cant get a plasma under 37 inchs.

What hifi [aka who has bribed us this month] says this is their best 26 inch tv

Samsung LE26A456 - 720P LCD, rrp is £370 they say fantastic spec and performance in such a small package [bit like Midnights package but with good performance]

Panasonic tx-26lmd70 - 5 star winner great all round 720p lcd and its rrp is 450

Panasonic tx-26lxd70 - Great 5 star winner, it is 700 but should find it for well under that now, 720 lcd 5 star winner. Best lcd in test - This is what I would get or the 32 inch lmd 70
1
Panasonic 32lmd70 - rrp is 600 5 star winner, 720 lcd 32 inch

Plasma - 37 inchs

Panasonic 37 px80 - this rrp is 650 but I have seen it for well under 500, and prob's much less now. HOWEVER do not get this tv if you are going to be using your tv as a pc monitor it WILL get screen burn in this situation. This is the tv I would go for if you are only using it for watching tv or movies, not using it on the pc at all.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I have mostly suggested 26 inch lcds as tbh you cant really get many good 32 inch screens for your budget, not with the specs you have asked for.

Also when you do get a tv don't use default settings they are a piece of shit designed to make you notice it in a shop, not to give you the best picture.

Panasonic 32lmd70 - cheapest I could find was £449 +delivery, which is a bit outside my budget.

26 inch is just too small IMO, I like to sit back across my room when I'm playing the PS3, and a 26inch (with my eyesight) just wont let me do that. So a 32" is the smallest I would want to use, and with my budget it kinda rules out the 37/42" tv's.

I was looking at the 1090p models simply because the way I understood it, was that if I selected game mode (1:1) and I could set my PC to say 1920×1080 where a 720p would only let me do 1280×720?

Newho I'm probably wrong about the whole resolution thing....

Motion blur doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the new LCD's, so that's my main issue out of the way.

But I've been looking at LG 32LG7000 - £360ish
http://uk.lge.com/products/model/detail/lcdtv_32lg7000.jhtml

My friend has a 47" version of this, and its almost as good as his plasma was ( he had a Samsung 50" which is EX has kept)

I know relativity little about LG as a brand, I know they made some decent "early" plasma TV's, and of course my friend hasnt had any issues with his except that he still prefers his ex plasma (obviously).

LG are a pile of shite, but you get what you pay for and wanting a 37 inch screen for under 400 is asking a bit much, but I will check the 3 star reviews for you instead of the 4 and 5 star products.

From what you asked I assumed you wanted a good tv and thus found you good tvs, clearly you are more intrested in size ! [making up for something.....]

"poor handling of base, sound not brilliant, really bad image blur, remote is very large"

Perhaps not the best for fast moving games?

Same model bigger screen

It could be that the blur is due to shit setup?

I can't find the 32 inch version reviewed in any of my mags, the 26 inch version is reviewed and got a 5 star, but what hifi are a tad biased towards samsungs at the moment. Saying a premium picture at a great price.

This months what hifi gave the best 32 inch lcd award to the Sony [ahahahahah] kdl-32w4000 - Saying Not the finest off air pictures in the test but a almighty performance otherwise.

If that is out of your budget they also like the following, all 5 star

Sony kdl-32v4000 - 5 star picture but 3 star sound. Says a excellent budget tv picture, however the sound is as reedy as a whole woodwind section.

Panasonic TX-32LZ85 - 5 Star in both picture and sound however its rrp is 650 so you might have trouble finding it under £400. It says the panasonic is impressive on all fronts but especially good with movement and detail, gave the best tv reception in the test. This is the tv I would go for if you can save up for a extra month.

Honestly mate, if you can take your console down to a shop like seven oaks or something and spend a hour or two finding the best tv for your price point, thats better than me giving reviews based from mags as due to my health I havent been out to look at any new tvs in quite some time. So I can only go based on their reviews which can be spot on or utter bullshit depending on the person doing them.

Sorry I haven't been the most active on the post mate but been pretty ill, still lost 10 stone in the past for months weee !

No disrepect to any sony owners, but every single sony lcd I have seen including the award winners tends to be washed out and handle movement badly, so check out this tv in some shops before you buy mate.
