Ive got windows Vista and therefore also WMP also VLC as a back up...

For some reason yesterday any video I wanted to play with any of the players would only play with the whole screen covered in like a grey film over it, or you could say pretty much in grey and white..

I downloaded K-Lite Codec pack and some other software but it never helped..

All my games still seem to be running fine so I dont think my graphics card has came loose or has been knocked (although I havnt checked it) and like ive said ive updated my codecs..

Has anyone else got any idea what I can do.?

All that was plugged into my card at the time was a S-video lead and a usual monitor connection.

Just go into your drivers and alter the gamma and brightness tab for movies and games, if you don't have one of those options in the drivers then change it in power dvd, where I know the options are.
Thats all it is, far too much gamma and brightness just washing everything out.

As I said check power dvd itself, and lower the brightness and gamma in there. I am sure that will fix it.

Judging from the screenshot thats what your problem is, far too much brightness and gamma, either change it in your drivers, or in power dvd itself.

Is it ONLY power dvd that does it, or does stuff like vlc and mpc do it as well ?

There is a option some where in the graphics drivers that applies to brightness and gamma in video, you just have to look for it. It doesn't affect games or desktop just videos.

I have had a similar problem altho it was in xp not vista.

cheers Stanly - Why did it go all funny like that then??

UI fixed it using Nvidia control panel - video settings which seems pretty obvious

It's happened to me before Shag, it's an issue when installing new nvidia drivers I think.
