had a frickin knightmare getting my microphone to work on vista - after reading about 20 forums you actually work out its dead easy..
COD tomorrow day anyone? I dont really think its that great far to many controlls it seems

control panel = hardware and sound = manage audio devices = recordings - then select ur device from a nice list and enable (theres about 4-5 micropone pics).
For some reason teh default selection when my X-fi was installed was something called "what U hear" adn that does excatlly what it says on teh tin..
The worst part is when you record yourself it sounds fine - but once your in a game everyone just shouts ot you - FFS SHAGNASTIE TURN UR FU**ING MIC OFF ITS SH!T !!! without giving you any feedback whats up with the noise.
With me constantly can u hear me yet!! lol

tbh the voice chat in steam is fine and you can use it in any game and its free, I was amazed that it worked.. until ben dropped of and i was talking to myself for ages  no difference there then..

looks like my mic is gone now hopfully it wil be back with a re-start. in cod you need to rank up fast to get your weapons/perks, so pick one or two guns and rank them up to lvl 3 so you get 1000xp (+ 250ish on the way up) then get you custom classes set for different maps (i have 3 classes set) , for example long range maps Ak47/G3/M14 (with last stand/3x nades & extra stopping power) close combat maps uzi/ak47u/mp5 (with the nade drop on death perk, extra stopping power or extra primary weapon (e.g. shotgun for clering buildings)) weapon to rank what ever gun i am ranking at the time, with extra nades and stopping power if you use a lmg the extra penetration is sweet as you can pepper walls to get kills

I only use 2 setups... Barret rifle with the perks that allow you to be invisible on radar, iron lungs for the rest of the maps it's Silenced m14 with Barret rifle all the way
