Having sold my pc bits it's time for me to hit the upgrades as well

Here's what I've put together based on the other threads of similar questions:

Motherboard : Asus P5K Pro Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 linky
CPU : Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM linky
Gfx : BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail linky
RAM : 2 x GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit linky
Fan : Thermaltake BigTyp 120 VX CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA755) linky reviews are good for this as can be seen here

I'll also get some Arctic Silver 5 Compound obviously. Is there anythere there I should change ? I'm not sure about the mobo / RAM but I want 4gb as i'll be running vista 64 again. Should I go for a sli mobo ? I'm running 2 x widescreen monitors at 1680x1050 on each so...

Any final suggestions or comments before I go ahead and order tomorrow ?

Don't go SLI as you have two monitors, last time I saw it in action you could only use 1 (Might have changed)

I'd be tempted to get an nVidia motherboard too if you want to use DDR2

The ram is fine.

Your board is probably ok too I just personally prefer nVidia mobo's.

Midnight, I have the P5k Mobo and it's great. Overclocking is super easy. Dunno what craigs going on about with the DDR2 issue. I'm running 2 sticks of 2Gig DDR2 and had no issues at all.

Oh and get 2 sticks of 2 Gig rather than 4 x 1 gigs, might have overclocking issues with 4 sticks.
