i can understand it, but i pay money for top speeds, i want top speeds when i want um, not when virgin decide,but id rather have this than a cap,bring on the 20meg line im getting upgraded to this month

I saw the title of this thread and expected it to be something to do with Sony pushing a little further with a PR stunt.

yeah sucky, but it only effects you if your going to be downloading 5-10 gb in a day every day.

i think i average 600mb or so at the moment

i should be gettin a 20 meg line put in this wek or next with virgin

all dsl is 8mb these days

Doesn't it depend on what package you have and how good the connection is to the exchange? at my old house my 8mb line was only 6mb. or do you mean that all ISP's offer a 8mb package?

yeah basically adsl only comes in a "Max package" these days and that is basically the maximum your line can support upto 8mb. so anyone with less than that can ask for a regrade free of charge and get upto 8mb for the same price.
at my house i get perfect 8mb at work the same product gets 1.8 mb

when i spoke to the virgin guy - I told him im not bothered if its not even 10 meg all the time as long as i have more than a steady 5 never really goes below ten tho and peaks around 18
