Well I had bit of a nightmare yesterday.
I was playing a game and it crashed out so I had to reboot my PC, after I rebooted my mouse felt strange; the sensitivity was wrong and the on the fly sensitivity changing function wasnt working, I have a logitech mx518. I decided I'd just format my C: as I needed to format anyway, so I dug up my Windows CD but after rebooting and attempting to load Windows setup found it was corrupted; some files needed for windows setup wouldnt load. So I gave up on the format idea until I could get hold of a working windows CD and decided to do a system restore to the previous day; that still didnt fix it, so uninstalled mouse drivers downloaded new ones and reinstalled. This fixed my mouse problems but later one when I went to access my newest 300gig IDE it wasnt being shown in My Computer. Windows can still see the drive as its in device manager and in disk manager as unallocated space, it is also still showing up in my bios.
So the drive hasn't failed just Windows seems to think its been formatted or turned off or something, which it hasnt because I didnt even get to the format menu when trying to load windows setup. Ive tried connecting the drive to the other IDE channel, ive tried undoing the restore and restoring to another earlier date and ive also tried reinstalling my motherboard drivers and all nothing. I plan to try a format on monday and if that doesnt work ill try it in another machine. Just wondering if anyone has heard of a problem like this and know of any other possible solutions, thanks.

Disk managemnt is usaly good at this, so if it says its blank, and does not have a filesystem then you may of screwed up your FAT with the attempted format.
Is it the master IDE? as that would be the one windows would try to install to as defult.
you can get software to check/fix the FAT/MFT, if thats the probem, but hopfully the re-install your planning will fix it.
