Heard of the problem before, but have zero experience with tv-out
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Probaly because he has the whong refesh rate, its like when you use remote desktop.
never used tv-out myself but i have a dvi box to do the same thing.
try downing the screen size to the same size as a tv and changeing the refresh rate (but be carful not to go to high or you'll blow the TV)
also try a diffent player if you have not already

well if i have read this right i think it might be to do with microsoft anti piracy stuff, where if you try and play something threw windows media player on more than one screen it will make it black on one of the screens. What cable is he using to connect to the tv ? Is he telling his tv that it is to input a incoming signal, i.e if its s-video is he telling his tv to expect a incoming s-video signal. Mork is probs the one who would know more about this as i am too anal about the quality to use my pc as a htpc or anything like that.

Aye then its got to do with microsoft's anti piracy stuff, he needs to set his tv as his default main monitor and then he will be able to watch wmp on it. It's because microsoft suck the donkey cock and dont let u show wmp on more than one screen at once.

oh but it can m8, we all know how good microsoft is, and just cos it works for u doesnt mean it does for him. I have had the same issue as this guy cant remember how i fixed it, but i know it was down to the fact that my tv wasnt set as the primary monitor and thus when you watched a movie via wmp on it, it was just black.

and if you look you aint trying to play the video on both screens, plus you are using what looks to be a extended desktop which aint the same thing as what he is using.

I just extend my desktop onto my TV and drag the Video player across to the TV. Why would you want the screens to show the same thing? Surely the beauty of dual screens is so you can do more than one thing. Only time i clone the screen is if im gaming and a mate is round wanting to watch. It seems to me its not working because the desktop isn't extended onto the tv, Stan might be right about the video messing up if its played on 2 screens, so just play it on 1 and not the other? I play video files on my TV whilst I play Poker or chat on irc or something using my monitor :]. Make sure your Monitor is the primary screen, then in display settings select screen 2 and check the Extend my Windows Desktop tab. Then like i say simply open the file and drag the player across to the TV. Works fine for meee.
