Right click my computer and select "manage"
In the storaghe section there's a "Disk Management" plugin, click it.
You should see your new disk in there (if it's installed properly), but it won't have a drive letter yet.
If you right click on it, you should be able to assign it a latter and quick format it.
If it's not in the list, you probbly haven't installed it proiperly or installed the right SATA drivers.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Make sure you've got the sata drivers for your motherboard installed and you've got the sata ports enabled in your bios.

Stuipd Question
Does it show up in Device Manager?
as my Sata drives showed up there before i formated them .
and do you have a RAID set up in the BIOS.
mine is just after the IDE detection, if so look it see if you need to do anything there (i know you dont whant RAID but its still worth a look)

i presume you have'nt installed the sata/raid drivers [it wont recognise it in windows unless you have] you can dl the nessasary drivers for your motherboard from the manufacture's sitealso Raptors Arent 80GB they come in 36.7GB, 74GB & 150GB size's
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.
