this is ajust a quick post looking for help - As some of you may or may not know it seems to take me 3 - 4 times longer than most to join any SF server. The other day while playing with SENT - By hte time I spawned and got past 1st part Lagg - he was 12 kills to the good and capped 2 flags .
I was given advice to do something regarding tyding my files or flashing my drives or something - can you shed some light Sent? or anyone..

My Pc consists of an AMP AthlonXP 3200+
2.19 GHz and 1 GIG of Cosair cas 2 ram
G Card = RAdeon 980 Pro AGP
128mb

On BF2 this Pc runs fine - but on SF i have all settings to medium - Ive no real grumbles within the game its Just the Load up time between levels which is killing me..

Try defragging your harddrives.. and also go into the my documents/battlefield2/mods/bf2/cache

Delete any files inside the folders in the cache folder.. that's the files inside the folders.. not the folders themselves.

This will stop some lagging in game and maybe make it load a bit quicker.. worth a try though.

ram is a big factor in bf2, when i sent 1gig off to get replaced i noticed a huge increase in loading times. SF imo has been coded vry lazily as it takes twice as long to load a map as bf2 does.

Dont go by what SENT says, hes always on a bout 2-3 mins before me and i'm usaly fist on, i think he has a UberC

what net conection do you have? i spent 50% of my time verifiying client data.

buy i'll agree with midnight, the cheepest thing is sort you system out, defrag, clean cash ect.

and SF also plays on lower setings on my PC

It takes me ages to load mate, Sent's PC is really fast i would worry about it, I just expect to get onto the first round map where a fair bit has been played, just the way it is

Shag gets on a server about 5 mins after me though Jammin, and we get on roughly the same time, so he is defenitely loading really slowly.

I'm looking at a new CPU myself, seriously considering and Opteron 1 series, similar prices to the athlon 64 counterparts, but they aren't clock locked.

if you change the game settings it creates new cache files for the old settings and the new ones and loads both at once so it's slower.

The best thing to do is set the game how you want it then go to

C:\Documents and Settings\Grant\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

or your equivilent folder and delete everything in there.

The next time you restart BF2 it will optimise again but will only have the cache files for the settings you want and should load faster.
