Don't forget that filling our nice forums with spam will just get posts removed and post counts reset. None of us want that so if you want to get your post count up post something useful! Aimed at no one in particular, just a suggestion

You should also remember that post counts count from posting comments anywhere in the site. Blog, news, forums, fixtures, review & articles.

extra points for ppl viewing and replyin to Blogs? - because they do seem to be the unused part of the site

Wudnt it be a good idea to reset the counter every year so that everyone starts at the same level?

Perhaps a seperate monthly counter might be fun, highest count in a month = prize?

That's asking for trouble cause you'll get like short replies etc and people will find a way to boost the amount of posts.

You make it sound like that's something new? You can't spark use of the forums without some downsides and clearly Mani thought the advantage outweighed the disadvantage or else he wouldnt have done it would he?

We'll crack down on people messing around, if people dont get the hint when their posts get removed and threads locked they'll just get their post count reset to zero or banned all together.

Regarding the prize thing, you could always do a monthly script that counts posts with more than X charactors. Maybe remove duplicate posts from the count as well, so several posts with just a smiley would only count once. Of course by the time you'd done all that Mani would probably deserve a prize as well!

YEah I wasn't complaining but your post is a classic example to prove my point. You post twice after each other while there's an edit button to make it into one post . It's little things like these.

Thats just because I thought of an addition comment, where's the harm? All I'd be looking out for is people doing useless repeat replies which are clearly done to raise post count and not adding to the conversation.

we used to get a lot of the useless replies on the codjumper forums... untill we started resetting the users post count if we felt they were doing it on purpose
