why cant me and my housemate play on a same steam server without the ping going crazy?

Whenever me and my housemate try play TF2 we have to keep swapping around servers until we find one which will let us play at a decent ping.

Seriously when he joins a server im already on my ping goes from 40 to 600+ !!!

Wtf that all about - ive googled it but not much comes of it

doses it happen if you are on different servers?

It's likely you just have a rubbish internet connection or router.

We're on 20meg virgin internet and the router is a belkin..

and no it doesn't happen if we're on different servers, Ill notice when he's joined my server cause as i said it sky rockets. - even if hes only spectating it happens.

Ill have to leave and re join and leave and re join for it to stable - sometimes that doesnt even work - we'll go to a different server and it works fine

to your launch options for TF2 and try. Only one of you do this though.

Not sure how good the virgin support is, but checking the user forums could be useful too.

I had problems with timing out when i joined any server, checked the BE forums and bang found some useful stuff and changed a few settings in my router config file.

Yeah all the updates have been released regarding the new unlockables. But the big news is that Valve have been really dumb and left the cvars in which allows you to go into the console and get the achievements without actually doing anything!

I won't be doing this as its basically cheating whichever way you slice your cake.

Hopefully the engi upgrades will be next, just think of the Shagnastie teleporters then!!!
