suprisingly more people play the orginal COD than currently play TF2, and 20 times more people play COD4 than TF2 it sold a million copies in the UK alone. Whilst i dont want to get into which is the better game. Its undenyable which is the most popular by a factor of 20. COD4 is the first game to outsell WoW.

If those are gamespy stats they count peopel who launch games using gamespy and that gamespy comrade thing they are missing everyone who uses the CS/CSS/TF2 internal game browsers which is like 90% + of the players.

They are Xfire stats which detects the .exe running wether you used it to launch the program or not.

most ppl who use steam and it's own messaging system probably don't use Xfire. I know I don't use it anymore and haven't for years.

You need both Gamespy's and Steams stats and add them all together to get a more accurate (but still most likely way out) picture.

but gamespy only report on the games they are involved in which isnt COD4 or WoW e.g. not being EA to say the least.
It would be difficult if not impossible to get accurate figures.

Most of these stats sites discount korea as they can only play CS 1.6 as any game featureing guns newer than that is banned/governed. If you take that out of the equations CS isnt popular at all out of korea. Even with that WoW is top on online players. with COD4 top of sales.
As long as the people selling the advertising and game delivery systems are the same ones providing the stats none of them are believable Valve blatently lie about this stuff as they count every copy of HL2 css tf2 etc etc.. as the same game as they are the same game engine. If Unreal/epic did that then UT2004 would beat them all with all the unreal and tom clancy games and other based on its architecture.

Only sales figues can be proven and they go like this.

They are total sales on PC platform in the US for all of 2007. The hostile corporate nature of EA screwing its customers whilst making poor quality products is definatly having an effect that most gamers would be happy about.

I didn't buy COD4 from steam but when I add it to steam and launch it from there I always get kicked for a PB violation - means I can't use the steam overlay ingame for chatting on steam friends. Bit weird seeing as it can be purchased on steam anyway.

Are those cross platform sales of COD4 though Sent ? Seeing as COD4 was advertised nearly all the time over the Xmas period you'd expect it to be up there at the top.

COD 4 is good fun - that server we went on teh other day was stupid tho Jammin - where you randomly spawn on teh square map which was tiny.

The servers in the game are worse than that on Company of Heroes and I cant get my ` button to work on COD so we both had to install XFIRE to find each other, which actually worked out well for both of us.

A game of what? I play COD4 most Saturdays on XBL (gamertag is Re0sless), before anyone asks it was easier to pay and extra £40 for the XBOX version than convince my friends to get a half way descent PC.

I keep getting asked to join clans when I play Cod4 + it makes me want to start gS team up... but none of you bastards play it!

Is CoD 4 any good in multiplayer? My flatmate has got it on the 360 and it looks ok, just not sure if i can be arsed to buy it! Have the new maps come out on PC or are they coming out at all?
