hi I'm new to games but have been told that half life 2 is a top game. I was just wondering if someone could tell me is half life 2 episode 1 the same game or an addon or what?

its an add-on, but you dont need the orignal to play it.

is only about 5h long tho, and if you havent played HL2 then you'll be missing the back story.

Yeah, Half Life 2: Episode 1 is an add-on. Get Half Life 2 first I'm sure you'll like it - and it is much longer than 5 hours.

HL2 is the best FPS game ever made,(to date)"imo", pity MP,DM is boring after a bit.really worth getting Dave, oh and Welcome!

I've just finished the disappointment that is half life 2 ep1; although it was the most linier & guided game I've played in a long time, with repetitive game play. I did however like the story, and because you get TF2 with the next instalment I'll be getting that too.

So my question is, is it worth getting half-life 2? As I have never played it. Or will I be disappointed in that also? I would like to know more about the story line, so I get into the next episode more, but don't want to play/pay for it if it's a bad as episode 1.

I know most people rate it as one of the best FPS games ever, but is that still true?

I'm playing through it again at the moment Re0s as i've got a new pc now and thought i'd see what it looks like. It's not the most graphically stunning game around at the moment but easily holds it's own in detail etc

The story is the best part, the characters and animation are still awesome and it's great fun to play. It just draws you in so quick and makes you sit there until it's over

Play FarCry instead

I did, and I didn't enjoy farcry half as much as hl2 or even hl

hl2dm is class, you just need some skillz Wud!

Simon I held back from playing HL2 for 12 months, beleive me m8 it is still probably the best sp game out atm.

Well I got it, right bargin it was to.

£20 for HL2,HL:sourse,HL2 lost coast, Counter strike sourse + deathmatches.

not bad when you think ep 1 with its 4h play was £15!

so far so good, mucho fun. but i cnat rember what happened in HL so im still lost with the story - lol

I'm having problems with the hover bike bit now tho it hurts my eyes and i cant play for more then 5 mins at a tme.

the story is the best part? u have to be kidding right?were u on crack when u played this game grant?

the story is about as intriguing as a dead plant imo. hell if it were any thinner it would be nonexistent

as ive stated before it has great gameplay and playability etc but thats about it

HL2 is a great game imo. I haven't played the add on yet.
FarCry is a great game too but in a different way. When I played FC I always felt I wanted to change in to my Hawaii shirt, straw hat and some shades.

I wish I even owned a Hawaii shirt and straw har ;/

Well I have got to say, it was a good game, but the end boss[?] was a let down. real anti-climax.
