Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ReviewGraphically Call do Duty 4 is very impressive, maps are highly detailed and character models move in an unnervingly lifelike way. Lighting and smoke effects are also very good and if you don't look at the textures with a microscope the entire package adds up to perhaps the most realistic looking military shooter ever, it really is stunning.

Nice review and I defenitely agree with the size of the multiplayer maps and recoil on the weapons. Like you said though, playing on smaller servers fits the maps much more than the many 30 player servers doing the rounds at the moment. Recoil is another matter though, hopefully a patch will rectify it a bit. Hardcore multiplayer mode all the way, no permenent map, no ammo counters, and none of that lame killcam which shows the enemy your exact position the moment you kill them. Quality multiplayer all the way though

Great review i totally agreee, I think mino faults from the port like clumsy menus and easy aiming are easily overlooked in the fantastic game. I'm loving this right now, I find 24 man the best server size for balanced play. managed 24 hours play since frinday LOL.

Quick question brought on by the summary on this review: In gameslave, does 10/10 = the perfect game?

Been playing this game all week and I agree, it's definitely an excellent game

Primarily (sp) the game in sp mode is average at best. MP is ok but (sp) is what sellls the game. Nice review but i thought it was an average game that just happened to liven up the fps genre for 2007 which tbh has been pretty shit, looks nice but didnt make me think wow great game...like original cod did.

If that dont make any sense, tough...7 guinness down and 1 to go

yes 10/10 = perfect. Which is why nothing has ever got a 10; yet.

Good review as always sir

Wouldn't say it's quite as good as HL2 but then i guess that's down to personal opinion.

Can't seem to get CoD4 running all that well. I've got a AMD 4200+, 3GB 400MHz corsair RAM, and a 8800 GTX, so i set CoD4 to optimal settings and it puts them around mid-high, but it becomes really unplayable at times even on 1024 x 768. Any ideas?

can only be CPU really. It runs great for me at 1680/1050 and I only have an 8800 GTS

Yeah i was thinking it was the CPU and RAM letting me down but then Grant told me he's running a slower system then me yet he's running CoD4 full settings 100FPS.

Completed it last night, what a fantastic ending. The unlocking of arcade mode make it last a heck of a lot longer too. I defnintely don't feel like I've been cheated with just 5 hours worth of SP gameplay.

It's quite good but the respawning enemies make me want to smash the screen - moer annoying than exciting in many places.

Is it just me or can you not change the rate of fire?

There's a peak you get that can make your weapon shoot faster yes Jammin. Although having that really does eat away your ammo, and that peak can be used on something better like increase damage.

What a game! What...a...game! Simply amazing, just finished it. Right up there with HL2.

I agree with malis, I lost interest in single player fast just because of the enemy respawning crap

Those bit were a bit weird, but thankfully wasn't used through the entire game. Obviously they were meant to give the illusion of a huge force against you, but did seem to stand out quite a bit.
