Sennheiser PC166USB Review
The optional USB sound card is also surprisingly good; it's nothing like as high quality as an X-fi soundcard but perfectly acceptable for most occasions. It requires no further installation than simply plugging into a free USB port; Windows simply picks it right up and you're off.

i have 3 broken pc160 SK gaming edition headsets onthe floor under my PC and i still use the 4th one . Ive broken them allin the same way basically walking away with the headset on and stretching the cable when im pissed. So the comfortableness is actually a downside as it is easy to forget they are on your head.
Ive no doubt that this is a superb headset.
Id like to add to your review that the in game benefits of this headset is knowing the exact direction that a sound came from. you dont hear the shells hitting the floor you can hear them whistleing on the way down and all pro gaming comes from gaining the most information from the game ,and certainly in COD4 sound is everything.
Im a bit confused about this product, can you use it with your existing soundcard or do you have to use the USB uilt in one ?

ah ive read up now and so basically you want the PC161 and not the PC166 as USB soundcard emulation is not the best solution.

Also id like to add haw excellent the warranties are on these headset and how easily they will replace a headset even if its your fault it broke. although they should make the cable armoured or something

the USB sound card is aright, nowhere near as good as an x-fi tho.

Aye the PC166USB IS a PC161 but also has the USB soundcard in the box, and I ageed the cables do need strengthening somewhat

Aye shitty cables have always been senn's major flaw, infact so much so, I got so annoyed with replacing the ones on my 650's I found it was cheaper and easier to buy some uber hand made cable from a different company instead. And as a bonus it also made my headphones sound even better.

In my time ive owne some wireless senns and a wired pair, the wired pair wire broke 3 times before i gave up (to be fair each time senn sent me a replacement cable for free) and the wireless ones quite humerously the wire broke (from the base unit to the sound card). Quality products just shame about the crappy wire quality.
