Petroglyph or is it Westwood?  by Scott H at 10:52

PC
It would seem yet another Westwood guy (Chris Rubyor) has resigned from EALA and has joined up with similar escapees at Petroglyph. It seems the Westwood people are returning to the nest, only the nest has a new name.

The Source of this information is Command and Conquer DEN.

Lets hope this bodes well for the upcoming Star Wars RTS title that the Petroglyph team are developing. It might not be so good for upcoming C&C titles though, but who knows.

I took a quick look at the Petroglyph site earlier, it has a little list of what games the various team members have had a big involvement in over the years. So I thought id post a little extract, see below. Certainly quite a few classic titles on this list.

* Command & Conquer: Renegade (2002), Electronic Arts
* Emperor: Battle for Dune (2001), Electronic Arts
* Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (2000), Electronic Arts
* Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun: Firestorm (2000), Electronic Arts
* Command & Conquer: Sole Survivor Online, Westwood Studios
* Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (1999), Electronic Arts
* Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations (1996), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny (1996), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Blade Runner (1997), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Command & Conquer: Red Alert (1996), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Civilization III
* Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth
* Command & Conquer (1995), Nintendo, Sega, Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Z, Renegade Software / The Bitmap Brothers
* Gods, Renegade Software, Mindscape / The Bitmap Brothers
* The Legend of Kyrandia: Malcolm's Revenge (1994), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* The Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate (1993), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos (1993), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty (1992), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* The Legend of Kyrandia (1991), Virgin Interactive Entertainment
* Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon (1991), Strategic Simulations, Inc.
* Eye of the Beholder (1990), Capcom Entertainment, Strategic Simulations, Inc.
* Sid Meier's Pirates!

The full list is a little longer, so pop over to the Petroglyph About Us page if you want to see it.

Well, that Star Wars RTS really does look cool and tbh the CnC fanchise has already been flogged to death.

There has only been one other SW rts from memory, 'Battlegrounds' was it? It wasn't bad, but there's certainly no glut of them, unlike c&c
