How friendly is your ISP?  by Scott H at 11:00

Noticed this piece of news on www.theregister.co.uk it seems there have been some naugty goings on over at Zen.

The register reports:-

An employee at UK ISP Zen Internet has been arrested for allegedly misusing credit cards details obtained from work.

It's understood that the suspect bought accounts for an online gaming service using stolen credit card details before reselling the gaming packages on eBay.

The man was arrested after internet gamers - who had bought the accounts at a discounted price via the online auction site - had said accounts closed. When they asked why the accounts had been terminated, they were told it was because they had been bought originally using stolen credit card details.

Yes, I wonder if chip and pin will be arriving on the net, and when it does how many people would actually want to put their pin number into a web site. Misuse of credit cards via the net is only going to increase now thats its harder to use them in shops, plus the massive increase in identity theft thats going to happen. Hence all the adverts lately.

I rememer when the wifes credit card got nicked out of her bag, by the time I cancelled it they had already spent £250 on it.

Then again the silly wife did go to the police station before telling me it was nicked :/, although I would only of had to pay a max of £50 anyway, and most credit card companies as with mine dont make you pay it anyway.

A lot of CC'c come with fraud insurance though does it not and as for identity theft, that is a scary thought.

When I was in HongKong someone used my debit card details over the net for 'next directory' and stuff like that. Used up about £600 of my hard earned money. Luckily the bank refunded it almost immediatly. Did leave me without a card and any cash 1000s of miles from home tho. The annoying thing is u never find out if they catch the buggers that do this.
