Battlefield 2 - First Look  by James W at 10:39

Battlefield2 Planet Battlefield have written up their impressions of Battlefield2 from the demo at E3.

PlanetBF: - Next up he explained how the vehicle views have been updated in this game. When you hop in a tank for instance, you get a more realistic heads up display. He demonstrated this inside a Russian Tunguska anti-air vehicle. The inside view lit up with a green display and totally made you feel you were manning the real vehicle, to a degree. But this simple addition really will make manning vehicles that much cooler -no doubt. I suddenly start to hear what appears to be an approaching chopper. Then out of no where appears a massive Cobra gunship sliding into position in front of the Tunguska, just hovering. I was just sitting there in pure awe at the sight of this bird. It looked simply amazing and sounded like a real chopper was hovering off in the distance. This is when you could really hear the difference in the new sound engine and the Doppler effects in the game. It really sounded as the chopper was far off and slowing coming our way from the west. Trust me, I am a huge audiophile and what I heard was on par with real life, in that respect. The directional sound scape really had me excited.

No doubt I'll have this game on pre-order.

It's byt he same guys who wrote BF1942, not the BF Vietnam guys, thankfully.

Looks promising but by the time it comes out it'll be a far less unique game than BF1 was when it came out. So how it fairs against games like Joint Operations will be interesting.
