As if you didn't know, but Gran Turismo 4 is available today, and Sony are apparently more than pleased with initial sales figures with more than 3 million units shipped on day one alone.

London, March 9, 2004 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is pleased to announce that the highly anticipated racing game Gran Turismo® 4, available today, has set a new, all-time Day One record for PlayStation®2 software, shipping 3,182,535 units across PAL territories.

There seem to be no-end to the rise in gaming's popularity, and indeed no end to the mad clamour for sequels, are these games really that good? Or is there just nothing else available? Hmm, Interesting question.
