Doom3 Interview  by James W at 18:25

PC
HomeLAN have interviewed none other than Todd Hollenshead, CEO at ID software to find out how some little title called.. Doom3! was coming along.
<hr noshade size=1 width=100%>HomeLAN - id Software has never directly created a game that has emphasized single player as Doom 3 has. How hard was it for the development team to start thinking and creating a game based on an involving storyline?

Todd Hollenshead - We were all very excited to focus on the single player experience after the years we spent working on Quake III and Team Arena. We all still love multiplayer here, but it had been over 3 years since the entire team worked on a single player focused experience. Hiring a professional writer early on and story-boarding out the whole game worked very well for us. The hardest part was working with brand spanking new technology that works entirely differently than the way our rendering technology worked from Quake - Quake II - Quake III. The learning curve for that was steep, but it was necessary to climb it in order to create the experience DOOM 3 delivers.

Yeah there is a certain nostalgia to doom3, hl2 is gunna be an impressive game but its miles away from doom3 so I think there is room for both in my wallet (and my wallet doesnt open for games very often)
