Supreme Commander 2 Demo  by Craig D at 23:01

A Supreme Commander 2 demo is now available via Steam, this comes along with news that the game will include various features of Valve's Steamworks system. The game ships to retail at the end of next week in the UK.

Both the retail and electronic versions of Supreme Commander 2 for the PC will be powered by Steamworks, providing gamers with auto-updating, Steam Achievements, Steam support for in-game DLC, and more.

It's different.

Looks slightly better than the first, runs better. Has no pre-defined tech levels as such but a more steady tech tree that initially looks a bit more complex.

It's a must buy anyway. Got mine pre-ordered.

general impressions are good after finishing the demo missions, the tech tree stuff is quite intuitive and make it a little different.

Instead of having 3 distinct sets of units (+ experimentals), there's just one + experimental units, but that one set of units can be upgraded in loads of ways (added shields, extra gun barrels etc).

It's really good tbh.

I also don't like the way you can't build anything unless you have the mass and energy actually in the stores. No more queuing up an entire base on a squad of five engineers while I mass-produce energy plants and mass fabricators...

Know what you mean, it might let you do that in multi-player though. We'll have to wait and see.
