M$ buckles to Opera  by Shane L at 19:05

News is circulating regarding Microsoft and Norwegian software firm Opera.

Opera claims that Microsoft's MSN site has some code built into it that makes it look bad in Opera browsers.

MICROSOFT IS TO PAY Norway's Opera Software a total of $12.75 million to prevent a possible lawsuit that Opera have threatened.

The argument is over Microsoft's MSN site, which has some built in code to make it look bad in Opera's software, sources told ZDNET. Opera has accused Microsoft of this at least three times – not only on the latest Opera browser.
IE is still dominating the browser market, with every 9 out of 10 people surfing the interweb using it.

Well we here at gameSlave have said it and will keep saying it, use opera or Mozilla

Ive gone back and forth from Mozilla to Opera for many years now. The only down side with these browsers is they arnt as polished and through there evolution Ive found different browsers become the best - I cant remember the last time I used IE as my main browser!

Keeping a little more on topic, omg at MS.. very cheap underhand tactics tbh.

I have only just started using firefox, Mork told me they were very good so it went from there.

I know Mani has downloaded the latest Opera and recommends it.

Yeah I like Opera, especially the new version which I used through the betas but whatever I do it just doesnt load pages as fast as Firefox or IE and since thats the main function of a browser I went back to Mozilla, it has most of the best features in Opera anyway.

Let's be fair though - the reason IE was so popular was not only due to its bundling with an OS, but also because it was far better than the opposition. Now, however, the opposite is true and user numbers for Opera and Mozilla variants continue to rise.

I'd like to also suggest that the facts in the article are not particularly strong -for example: "...sources told ZDNET."

Okay, found other "sources" saying the same things: http://tinyurl.com/3gzwu It appears that Opera themselves announced the whole thing, but without specifically naming MS. Or should that be M$ ;)
