World of Warcraft a Massive Retail Success by Craig D at 12:35

Blizzard today announced that World of Warcaft had sold over 380,000 copies over it's first weekend in Europe, 280,000 on the first day alone.

selling more units in one day than what was previously thought to be the overall cumulative size of the European MMORPG market

Impressive sales figures to say the least. Despite hearing a lot of poeple moaning in irc, it does also seem that WoW reached a figure 180,000 concurrent players over the weekend, now that's a lof of players.

I guess that's why irc has been so quiet for the last few days.
