Seems to me as if there is a big war going on at the moment with UK service provider's as this BBCi article explains.

If you are a speed freak then the good news is that 2005 looks like being a vintage year as internet firms continue to increase the speed of broadband and lower prices.

With UKonline offering 8mbs in certain places and Bulldog's 4mbs pay as you go service we really are spoilt for choice, I guess 512k is the new age equivalent of 1990's 56k...

Still all good for all you online gamer's out there.

Unless your a download junkie is there any real need for these excessive speeds ?

Of course, but not for most people. More and more things are moving on to the internet whether that is banking, working from home or watching media... the faster the connection the better. In this context the internet is still very slow compared to other media sources.

my dad n bro keep ****ing my gaming because there downloading >.<

and a faster line would be more suted to the load "i.e. leaving me enough bw to play games"

Yea I already knew about this and it seems 1mb looks like being the entry level now for broadband.
