Okay as my first news post I thought Id do a bit of a round up. The huge E3 expo has come and gone and spawned lots of articles and information on upcoming titles. One recent write-up is from OCC and gives a nice overview over the event. Some hot areas include Half-Life2, Doom3, World of Warcraft and Mortal Kombat. To check out the write-up, pics and videos head over to the link below.overclockersclub.com - E3 Coverage 2004
Also giving a good round-up from E3 is the article over at Tom's Hardware.
tomshardware.com - E3: The Best Of The Future Of Gaming
There is also a Doom3 video from E3 you can get here:

To expand on Half-Life2 for a moment, if you missed the recent video that was released (shame on you) here is a link to download it, be aware it weighs in at a hefty 664.2MB:

You can also check out an interesting write-up over at gamers.nu where there the video is discussed. Its an interesting read so I recommend checking it out:
gamers.nu - Half-Life 2 Analysis
Also a hot talking point of late is the future of the Unreal series. The 3rd incarnation of the Unreal Engine is a way off yet but looking stunning from a recently released video [link below]. To expand on this great video there was recently an interview with one of the coders from Epic Games, Tim Sweeney. The interview gives a nice look ahead at what we an expect from games in a few years time both in terms of their raw detail and the computer hardware that will be required. When you hear a 3.2ghz CPU being called a low end system and that to play on full detail a graphics card with 1 gig ram is required you are reminded we are looking a few years ahead, but its nice to see where things will be in the future.

While flicking around the usual news sites I noticed another E3 writeup that seemed to cover a lot, so whether you are up for a gaming chair [pic] or screenshots of Call of Duty: United Offensive [pic] its worth a read.

Toms Hardware now have a half-life2 preview up!
tomshardware.com - Half-Life2 Preview
"Freeman was fighting with most of the same weapons as last time around - an MP5, a shotgun, a pistol, and of course, the crowbar. It was obvious that the Combine soldiers were intelligent in hunting down Gordon. Even more spectacular was the giant Strider who was knocking over cars and blasting down buildings in his pursuit of Gordon and his fellow combatants. Those resistance fighters gunning alongside Gordon seem to be what Barney the security officer was in the original Half-Life - characters we care about and invest ourselves in emotionally. I can't wait to see how that really plays out in the end."
