Rumour: Some 360 Games Playable Online for Free?  by Joe R at 13:07

PCXBox
Following scattered reports on several Internet forums, including the official Xbox.com boards, it is being reported that certain games are now free to play online, needing only a silver membership.

This is following Microsoft's recent move to make all Games for Windows Live services free, which included online play. However, some titles utilise cross-platform online play, which has apparently made their 360 counter-parts also free to play online. So far, the only 'confirmed' titles (and I use the term loosely) are Lost Planet: Colonies, Shadowrun and Universe at War.

Whether Microsoft knew this would happen, or whether it was an un-expected side effect is unclear at this point. The situation is also muddled by the fact that there was an Xbox Live Weekend barely 24 hours ago, which made every game free to play anyway.

Stay tuned.

Interesting, a possible nice intro the online gaming for silver members, might increase gold subscriptions the log run.

I haven't bothered with GFW live yet though, there's no games on it that interest me at the minute.

Likewise Mani. Also if it was free from the start I may have taken more interest in it.
