Wii-fit: Public enemy number one?  by Joe R at 19:19

Nintendo
Wii Wii-related accidents have caused over £20 million worth of damage around the household, according to an article by The Daily Telegraph.

Flower pots, television sets and even pets have been sent flying by the high kicks and hula hoop motions of increasingly vigorous home exercise routines, a study found.

In a poll of 1000 women for insurer Sheila's Wheels, it was found that as many as 86 percent of female-exercisers had accidents whilst using their Wii Fit.Tthe average cost of the damages was priced at £6.55. In a rather odd leap of mathematical assumptions, the paper then claimed that this meant a "national bill" of £20.1 million.

The study attributes this to the average living room now containing only 21sq ft of free space, and came after a clip of 25-year-old Lauren Bernat working out attracted at least two million hits on the video-sharing website YouTube.

I got a quote from Sheila's Wheels for my car, very competitive prices tbh, cant say i would claim for falling off my joymat tho

I would asume that the math is

86% of (wii sold to date/ 2 (man&women)) times by 6.55.

but thats just a random guess

Only problem is that you didn't research the story very well. The cost was for accidents caused by home exercise Videos and DVD's, with speculation that this could increase with the advent of the Wii Fit. But atleast you are not alone. Half the Internet has made the same error.

Aye that Telegraph story is basically sensationalist bullshit, something more akin to the Sun usually.

I'd be willing to be there's been a few WiiFit accidents anyway, won't stop the wife buying it though.

The Telegraph is not to be trusted, and i should know, i've written for them! They have a habit of looking at a good news story and thinking: "how can we make this bigger than jesus?"
