Activision Screws European Steam Customers  by Craig D at 09:39

PC
Browsing around the interwibble I found this little gem on Voodoo Extreme, it seems that if you want to buy Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on Steam and live in the USA it will cost you $49.95, but in Europe that price is $69.95 + tax.

Tracing it back the original story on gaming-resources.com, it would seem Valve have confirmed that prices on Steam are set by the publisher, in this case Activision. I'd love to see them try and justify this. Personally I bought my boxed copy at a much discounted rate which pretty much matches the US Steam price.

Typical, they don't have to box it, or ship it, or even lose a large percentage to a shop like pc world. But they then have the ****ing nerve to overprice it.

Still as a game I am sure it will be fantastic and will be awesome in MP, I just love the way the guns feel and the visceral and tactile way it feels when you get a headshot. It just feels right, and skilled.

Makes the end of MOH:Airbourne where you have to put 150 bullets into a uber nazi just seem stupid and tbh it was. Worst part of a average game.

Mine cost £24.99 from gameplay, think it's the same price at Amazon and Play.com

70 Dollars + vat = $82.20 / 2.05 ish = £40 which is UK retail RRP

And publishers moan about piracy...tis a vicious circle. Reasonable price consumer buys, rip them off they leach.
