Euro Playstation 3 Price Cut?  by Craig D at 20:55

Playstation
MCV seems to think that a European price cut maybe one of a number of announcements Sony will make at the upcoming Leipzig gaming convention. Possible others are touted as video on demand and freeview TV functionality.

Entirely speculation perhaps, but fun anyway.

I'd be tempted at £300 if the pack includes SingStar!

Ahh but the real question will be what will the bit rate be, I still aint read that article mind cos of my migrain. But I cant see the quality being that great when the hd is only 80 gig big at most. When you think how big hd-dvds and blueray is. Still most people wont care how poor the hi def is aslong as they get to say its HD to their mates.

Fair point Stan m8 , I have procured some HD TV footage & its really quite frugal from a space perspective & the visual quality is very good , if anyone has ever watched a Nero digital film? If you you have that would be H264you have been watching & that my friends if in another league to MG2 . Did I forget to mention the PS3 supports AVC High Profile Playback ? The fact you use USB to slap on a One of dem dair fancy Tera bit HD's is another methodology to address lack oh drive space.
P.S. Stan hope your migraine is better now m8 :-)

Well I have tried a shed load of codecs and for me even a 1.5 gig file for 40 minutes of footage aint enough as it doesnt give you that jumping off the screen image. There is very little detail, the water and the lighting dont look real [thats where real high quality hi def shows up]. I reckon you are going to need at least 3 gig per 40 mins to get a decent picture. But as I said most people would probs be happy with a 1.5 gig file as its better than some of the channels on sky, but it aint proper hd. If you want to see what real hi definition looks like go watch a hour of the bbc hd trial channel and look at the way the water moves, and how you can almost touch everything and the spot on looking lighting.

thats the thing tho ryan, as u said most ppl will be happy with lower quality, as its more than adequate, yes full hd is an amazing sight, but 90% of users wont actually care about the difference, otherwise everyone would be spending 6k on a pioneer plasma and not 400 on some shitty bush lcd
