The phenomenon that is World of Warcraft would apparently know no bounds, Vivendio have today announced that their stupidly popular MMORPG now has a staggering 8.5million active subscribers.

Not only that, but the Burning Crusade expansion pack has no sold an incredible 3.5 million copies in less than 2 months since it shipped, a new PC sales record that's unlikely to be beaten. Well, perhaps until the next World of Warcraft expansion pack ships.
