Firefox 1.0 RC2  by Craig D at 15:59

PC
Firefox The Mozilla project have released two new versions of it's products, the latest release candidate of Firefox, 1.0 RC2 and also the latest incarnation of the excellent mail client, Thunderbird 0.9.

Thunderbird now includes what could be an invaluable feature, 'Saved Search folders'.

Beginning with version 0.9, Thunderbird now allows you to create Saved Search folders. A Saved Search folder looks like a regular mail folder but when you click on it, it runs a search according to criteria that you've set previously and it displays a list of messages that match those criteria. For example, you could create a Saved Search folder that lists all the messages received from a certain person over the past 30 days, even if those messages are stored in different folders and subfolders.

For those of you still using IE6 and Outlook express, neowin is reporting on a new serious securty hole in IE6 and anything thats uses it's HTML rendering technology, including Outlook/Outlook Express. It appears the this only relates to pre XP Sevice Pack 2 however, so make sure you upgrade.

It is fairly featureless at the moment. I think that's what I'm missing.

It doesn't mean it does everything that I want. I don't think it's arguable - it doesn't have many features at all - it's a bare-bones email client. I didn't say that makes it shit, I just said it wasn't for me. "Featureless" isn't an insult.
