The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Expansion Coming  by Craig D at 20:44

PC
CVG have been reading the latest edition of PC Zone UK in which there are details of a The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion expansion pack named 'Shivering Isles'. It's estimated that there are 30+ hours of gaming in the expansion pack and it's scheduled to be released in the second quarter of this year.

You can of course find more detail in the current edition of PC Zone UK that's in stores now.

I hope it adds new areas and monsters so that it actually feels like something new, rather than just a dungeon you didnt find in the full game.

Morrowind expansions added new Islands etc, so i'd imagine this will be the same especially given the name

sure it will be the same....they'll expand some in many areas.....unfortunately the limits and things this game doesn't do well will still be glaringly obvious.....

no matter what you do or what you fight, the basic choice of being stuck with difficulty being forced on you will be decided for you in advance....regardless of your level......

treating this game as a first person shooter makes dodging arrows/spells possible and towards the end game rediculously easy.....

challenge is a given with this game, not completely a bad thing, but once you really understand how things work and where things are, you can min/max which makes you feel like the game is more a job than fun....

if you DL the mods to avoid the work inherent in the game design, your implementing a cheat to avoid the work......

oblivion is fun, and I look forward to the mods players make, but overall, I really don't care if they come up with 8 more weapons, considering the weapon selection was severally limited to begin with because they intended from the beginning to make people pay for the magic (8) new weapons..... like a sling, or whatever that wasn't in the original....

Its sort of a given they will add more content that could of easily been included in the original game.....the basics of the game, I don't think will change. The new content to me will feel kind of like blah, been there done that......even with new lands, new races, new whatever, kind of blah.....new quests, yawn....

will it really add much actual value.......

well, visualize yourself killing stuff with a sling instead of a bow 50 feet to the west of where you couldn't go before.....does that make you happier.

Stan, I'm sure they can come up with 8 new monsters to earn your $$......just like they had 8 function keys to do your mariad of macros that if you ::gasp:: had more macros might actually save you time....

I'm not sure if those new monsters will be in this expansion or the one after though....but I'm sure one of the requirements of the new monsters will be owning all expansions....

This console hybrid was fun, and can be fun, but for a PC person, F1 thru F8 isn't even all the F keys available on a keyboard, not counting shift, alt, or ctrl Function keys(for macros)....slap in the face that they couldn't even write code to add value for pc users....

I think everquest and this game have that one respect in common, and simplicity is okay in some respects, but for an advanced user(like myself), its obvously simple and obvious why....

I think I get more fun about critisizing the game on here than actually playing it..... ;/

thought about this game some more, and what would interest me is if I could pvp other actual players.....prove that my character would own another.....even to a limited degree, like hook up on the net to dual them, mono on mono in the gladiator pit, that alone would make me want to buy the expansion....

I'm sure they can envision a limited challenge potential game not in this iteration though of elder scrolls but in the next one, or the iteration there-after.....Elder Scrolls VI, quest for your $

Now Kev don't hold back mate you just spit it out & as for the mono on mono I totally agree as its much easier than taking on one opponent at a time
