Halo 3 Betas Invites Included with Crackdown  by Craig D at 12:54

XBox
Trying to decide whether or not to buy Real Time Worlds's cell shaded action title when it ships at the end of February? Well, having a Halo 3 beta invite in the package might help you make that decision thinks Microsoft, and I think they might be right.

The "Halo 3" multiplayer beta, which is a pre-release version of the multiplayer experience of "Halo 3," is scheduled for availability in spring 2007 exclusively on Xbox 360TM. The beta also represents an opportunity for gamers to participate in the testing and refinement of the multiplayer gameplay of "Halo 3," the most anticipated game of 2007. Through the resulting feedback, Bungie Studios will be able to further hone the end result of "Halo 3."

When "Crackdown" hits store shelves, gamers eager to take home a copy of the highly anticipated exclusive action title for Xbox 360 will find marked boxes of "Crackdown" that include an invite to participate in the coveted "Halo 3" multiplayer beta program when it becomes available. When the "Halo 3" multiplayer beta surfaces in spring 2007, owners of "Crackdown" with access to an Xbox 360 or an Xbox 360 Core System with hard drive and a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription simply need to load their copy of "Crackdown" into Xbox 360 and use the disc as a key to download the beta from Xbox Live Marketplace and join the battle in "Halo 3" multiplayer.

While I agree, many Xbox addicts would shoot you for saying that.

£45 (or what ever ) to play a beta is not an incentive, if you need to play halo that much you should check into the clinic with the WoW addicts

if you practice with analogue sticks though you can still aim fast and well. Plus it's an even playing field so comparing the two is stupid as you can't use a mouse on Halo (yes I know about that stupid hardware thing) Halo is still a good mutiplayer game and you'd be surprised how accurate some players are in Halo and GoW with the controller.

I thought part of vista and the 360 was that you could play people on their 360's while you was on the pc ?

In some situations an analog stick player can be more accurate/consistent.

Dont get me wrong, people can get very good using a analog stick. But if the worlds best pc quake 3 player was to play the worlds best console quake 3 player, its my view that the pc player would dick the console guy seven ways of sundays.

in regard to what Stan said, quake 3 is meant for a pc. unless you modify if possible the analog controller to turn very quickly if needed, then the mouse would own over the analog controller because surprisingly, there are differences...

A true master, the world's best, would not only master one system....

anyone even close to the world's best would never be "owned" or as you try to describe pwnage....

Halo is meant for the console. As anyone who has tried to play Halo 2 on the PC, I have heard that online play is atrocious from reliable resources. An analog would have the advantage over the PC mouse when the game advantages people who are using the intended system it was designed for...and Halo 1 & 2, as mentioned above, was made for xbox first and foremost.

I remember making my brother destroy Halo, the actual game disk, in frustration...Halo 2 always rang to me as really Halo 1 & a half......even after mastering Halo, its a much different game than quake 3.....I have no loyalty to Halo, and especially not to quake 3, which I thought was much worst on the poor design fragfest game....

if anyone is actually interested in playing halo 3, which I'm not, they should of at least played or have an idea of Halo 1 and/or 2, and expect to pay $50 to play the "coveted" beta spot.......beta being an unpolished possibly bug ridden game depending on how many bugs in alpha were found.....

To Obi, Halo isn't the worst FPS I've ever played, its head and tales above DOOM, the original, and better imho than quake 3....Halo 2 isn't really anything besides a better multiplayer for Halo....and few minor differences with vehicles & ordinance....(Halo 1 & a half)

My expectations are for Halo 3 to improve minor improvements over Halo 2, if they don't botch the base g
