Xbox 360 Gets a Mouse/Keyboard Adapter  by Craig D at 11:58

XBox
Here's a cool little product for frustrated PC gamers who can't stand console controllers (like me). The XCM XFPS 360 is an adapter for your Xbox 360 which allows the user of a PC keyboard and mouse.

I might get Gears Of War and Call of Duty 3 once I get my hands on one of these.

He's trying to take the credit craig!

Not really interested in getting them myself. If I want to use them, I'll use my PC. Pointless IMO.

It's not pointless at all. If it means I can play gow and cod3 to name but a few then I'll get one. I can't stand console controls and I don't want to learn how to use them.

a game has to support it in order to use it, I don't see the point at all for me. Consoles are for sitting back and chilling... not slouched over a desk like PC's. Kinda destroys the whole point in consoles IMO.

no it doesn't have to support it.

All the functions on the pad are mappable to mouse or keyboard functions- follow the link and read it

Not if you've got a wireless keyboard and mouse like me. Even wired mice and keyboard are long enough to reach to the end of your bed or accross your living room. You can't get GoW or CoD 3 for PC so this is ideal.

You'll always be restricted to what the game supports. You'll be able bind stuff in the game to keys but that's it. By this I mean things like movement, triggers etc.

eg. Movement in GoW is done by analog stick, there is no walk button in console games anymore because of analog sticks. This means if you bind the X and Y axis to W, A, S and D, you'll only be able to walk or run... not both (last I heard, keyboard keys are not analog). Seeing as there's no walk/run button in GoW, you won't be able to bind anything to it. You'll also not be able to change the sensitivity of the mouse (which PC gamers are very fussy about), as you'll be restricted to the settings of the game (low, med, high). Those are just few of many examples...

It's far too messy IMO.

Sure it's a good idea, but it won't work right with most games. It's best using accessories that are supported... not stuff like this that has too many restrictions.

Saw this ages ago too, might be worth a look but I'm not really that bothered about having a mouse on a console. I mean it's not exactly to practical to use a mouse in a typical lounge. A wireless keyboard would be nice - at the moment I have a laptop-like usb keyboard which does the job but a wireless one I can just put down the side of the chair out the way would be nice.

Yeah i was more interested in the mouse side, using it to aim rather then a stick, but you're right, i'm concerned about the sensitivity, are we going to be able to change it?

One other thing on top of what ralinn has mentioned. The manual seems to hint at it only holding one configuration ie : enter = A on the controller. That will be kind of annoying for games that require different uses of the buttons imo.
